Dog treats #1
This, is for all you pet owners. Whether your super furry animal is a cat, dog, hamster, rabbit, guinea pig, horse (you get the picture) we are all aware that pet treats are an awesome way to spoil our beloved creatures.
The trouble is however, that there seems to be so many treats out there with far too much junk in and not enough goodness….you know what I mean, the weird non pronounceable chemicals with the three types of food dye..not fun. For us or for our animals. Why should we get to look after ourselves and think about all the ingredients, good and bad, that go into our food and we don´t think about our pets food in the same way. I am guilty of it, looking only at the food, as in the main food supply for my puppy and not what goes into the treats. But…. no more.
So here is a recipe that my mum had been making (thanks for telling me mater!) for our old dog who had big problems with arthritis…
3 cups of whole wheat flour
1 cup of cheese
1 cup of vegetable oil
½ cup of whole milk
2 tsps tumeric/garlic powder
a little pinch of salt
1 egg
1tbs chia seeds
Mix egg, oil, milk, cheese and chia seeds together and let sit for a while.
Mix flour, tumeric/garlic powder and salt together and form a well in the middle.
Add the wet mix to the dry and stir.
Place mix onto a floured surface and roll into about 1 inch, little less and then cut into any shape you want.
Cook till goldeny around the edges, 190 for about 20mins.
TUMERIC is a great great great spice…yes, I love it! Famously known for helping with swelling and joints. This is the perfect, PERFECT thing to add to treats for your pet with arthritis problems.
CHIA SEEDS are famous for helping to keep people and animals hydrated. So, if you're planning a trip with your loved one then add a spoonful to an egg, mix around for a little and do this for several days leading up. You will notice that the chia seeds go glutenous (a lot of vegans substitute eggs for chia mixed with water/apple juice and this give the same binding consistency). So whether you are going on a trip or not, you pet can always do with water in their system and these little bits of magic will help with that.
Hope the pet enjoys :)

Final product...
Yippppeeeeee….I'm dust free! Dust free peeps and oh how joyfully clean it feels.
It's been half a week exactly since all work was stopped and on to final details, the paint line isn't quite straight, this little bit of wood needs sanding…you get it. I might be admitting I'm a perfectionist…hmmmm.
But finally, drum roll please, it's here!
Enjoy.

Inside outside
Maybe I mentioned that I'm covered in dust 24/7??? One of the reasons I'm covered in dust (yes I will go on and on about it!) is that I'm building two bathrooms…and one is kind of an inside/outside bathroom, with a beautiful gardinia tree coming out of the ceiling. Hopefully eventually to give you a feeling that you are bathing in lush tropical garden…think big rain shower head, the smell of gardinia and a view of mexican pink bouganvilla…
Here are a few inside/outside that got me going.

Pet Travel Scheme
So, with all this dust and work happening on my house, I have also been very stressed in trying to find tickets, vaccines and all the shabing I need to get the puppy back to England.
First off, England governement (defra) have been super duper fantastic and so helpful. They are very well informed, they always give the same information and you couldn't ask for a better help line!
But, and yes, there always seems to be a but doesn´t there! Now, Contintental/United have been very very unhelpful.
First I can buy my own pets ticket, it will only cost $559 usd and she can be on the same plane with me. Then I phone back with all the info I need to give them (size and weight of her + crate), all the paper work in order and it turns out that 'oh, well actually M'am, you can´t buy our own pets ticket and it's actually going to cost you almost $1500usd and you'll have to pay a handlers fee in Mexico'. Ummmm, helloooooo!! Get your facts straight people!
So now, I have to do all the running around to find the cheapest handler and out of which city is the best. Turns out puppy can't get through on the same flight as me. In fact even though there are two flights a day flying into the UK she can only be put on the flight at night which arrives at 6.30am and yep, you got it. Muggins here has to pay an out of office fee!
Oh yeah. It's been very very fun and still not done.

Workers
It's been two weeks of madness. Workers have come in, taken over my house and left with me dust, dust and yep, you guessed it. More dust. Two bathrooms and two new floors later I'm still finding dust. One more week left and it should be good to go…
Still trying to find a way of putting pictures on so, I'm sorry for a un-colourful couple of posts :(
Wishing you a dust free Sunday!

Work, work, work
Work starts on my house today…lots of dusty dirty work. 2 new floors, 2 new bathrooms and one new laundry room….all in three weeks. Goodness me, I hope it gets done! Pictures to come as soon as I figure out how… For now though, just imagine a dust person (thats me by the way!)

Invisible guacamole...
SO, I had this fantastic plan (meaning that I did a little bit of thinking for this post) and took beautiful photos, planned ahead and it seems that now I have no way of downloading the photos so that I can post it for you….boo hoo.
BUT, let's pretend that it is invisible and that you can imagine the fabulous avocado green sprinkled with the pink and white of red onions and mixed with those sweet and bursting with juices home grown cherry tomatoes…can you see it?
I generally use, 2 avocados (ripe of course), half a smallish red onion (chopped finely) about 5 cherry tomatoes chopped into little pieces, a squeeze of lime/lemon to taste, ground of black pepper and a pinch of salt. If you feel like going spicy, add some drops of tabasco or even cut a red chilli…yum
Mix all together, I don´t like mashing my avocado up too much as it reminds me of old people food (not a pleasant image!) so more like rustic homemade….chill and serve….fabulouso. Can you see it? Can you??

Make my pattern
I'm really into lino cutting at the moment (pics to come!) and so I'm busy trying to find great line patterns as inspiration…not to mention colour!
Here are just a few that I'm loving. All pics taken from mags that where lying around my Aunts' house. Sorry for not remembering exactly where they come from…do you have any good ones for me??

Rain rain go away
Crikey's o'reily it's been raining here non stop for 4 whole days…everything is damp and wet and smelly and nothing dries. The dog hides under the bed when there's thunder. I hide under my covers when there's thunder….yes, yes. Laugh all you want at my fear of rain and thunder!
I need some sun and colour and something to make me giggle. Your best tips for feeling better??

Make a difference.
I came across this little beauty the other day and have been fascinated since. I love, love, love the idea of useful and helpful all in one. As we become more and more detached from where our food comes from, personal communication (she says writing from a computer, ha!) I think it's important for there to be projects like this that make it easy to help, provoke and teach.
Hope you enjoy it…anyone got any other great ideas like this?

The room for me
I spend quite a lot of time trawling the magic of internet to find ideas for my dream house. Laughable considering I'm the type of person who moves constantly but maybe if I did have my dream house I would hang around more :)
Here are just a few loved images of mine…what are yours?

Row row row your boat...
Having spent the summer on boats, I have now become a little tad obsessed, not in the sense of now my bathroom looks like a lighthouse montage kind of way, just in the majestic beauty of them…
Just for the fun of it
Summer time was full of work, 18hour days to be exact but also lots of fun. One of those aweseomely fun things we did was paddle boarding! Jolly good laugh and exercise!

Rain rain go away
Lately we've had several freak rain storms…one had several huge trees pulled out by the roots. So I'm in need of some colours…enjoy!
